Welcome to the Caroline Can! website. This site was set up in honor of Caroline Owen, who is recovering from a traumatic brain injury suffered in November 2006. In honor of Caroline’s tremendous spirit, hard work, and will to get better, we (her brothers, sister-in-law, and friends) will attempt a half-Ironman race on August 23 in New Hampshire! That’s a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run. Make you sure check out the Timberman page for more details…..
We’re attempting this race as part of a 5-year, $100,000 campaign. So far, we’ve raised over $50,000 thanks to Jay and Reid Owen’s English Channel swimming relay attempt in August 2008 (see the English Channel page for more details), and the support of friends and family like you. Many of our half-Ironman racers are trying to raise $2,000 per person in honor of Caroline before the event. The money we raise will go to support a continuing education scholarship for the therapists at Caroline’s rehabilitation facility, the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville, TN. The scholarship will allow the therapists to learn the latest techniques and technologies for treating TBI, which Caroline has really benefitted from. How can you help?? Make a donation! Click on the link to the right to be directed to a site for on-line giving. Your donation is tax deductible and greatly appreciated!!
